Abstract:

The advent of 6G communications promises unprecedented advancements in wireless connectivity, driven by ultra-low latency, hyper-reliability, and seamless integration of artificial intelligence (AI). This talk explores the transformative role of AI in shaping next-generation 6G networks, with a focus on two key enabling technologies: AI-driven reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) assisted communications and AI-based radio mapping for UAV communications. First, we discuss how AI enhances RIS-aided communications, enabling dynamic beamforming, channel estimation, and environment-aware signal reflection. By leveraging deep reinforcement learning, RIS can intelligently adapt to changing propagation conditions, significantly improving spectral efficiency and coverage in 6G networks. Next, we examine AI-driven radio mapping for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communications, where machine learning techniques construct high-resolution propagation models in real time. This talk highlights how AI is revolutionizing 6G system design—bridging theoretical innovation with practical deployment challenges.
